Each night 1.5 million bats take flight to hunt. It was a pretty cool sight. I didn't expect the bats to keep coming and coming....I guess it takes awhile for 1.5 million bats to emerge from under a bridge.
One thing to remember for next time - go on Wednesday night and enjoy free admission to the Children's Museum prior to seeing the bats. Also, the trees on the riverbank blocked much of the bats - the best view is from the bridge.
We brought umbrellas - 1.5 million bats can drop a lot of guano. We didn't have a problem though. Don't know if it is because bats aren't birds and won't "drop" on you as they fly over you or if they just didn't end up flying over us. (The umbrella didn't look this beautiful when we first arrived.)
